THE ISSUE
The US Department of Housing and Urban Developement estimates that over 37,000 veterans experience home-lessness, half of whom do not have shelter on any given night. Among the leading causes of homelessness are social isolation, unemployment, substance abuse, and mental illness, including post-traumatic stress disorder.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to build a transitional community of thirty (30) tiny homes and a community center to house homeless veterans and create a community where veterans can reside, gather, and receive physical and mental health services and job training.
OUR GOAL
- Provide safe and secure housing for homeless veterans.
- Create a community-centric setting to screen, house, and provide comprehensive programs to address the broad spectrum of needs for all residents, so that they can transition and reintegrate into society.
- Assist residents to determine benefits and entitlements.
- Transition residents to self-sufficiency by providing coun-seling and medical screening, and access to job training programs leading to employment contacts.
- Work collaboratively with the community to help our veterans heal, so they, who have given so much to us, can successfully reintegrate into society.
